Parliamentary elections were held in Austria, and for the first time in history neither of the country's two largest parties managed to attract more than 30 percent of voters. It was the far-right parties that benefited from the electorate's frustration. The turnout was 71,5 per cent.
The results will be finalized on October 6.
According to preliminary results of September 28 elections, the following parties enter parliament:
Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPO) - 29.7 per cent - 58 seats
Austrian People's Party (OVP) - 25.6 per cent - 50 seats
Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) - 18.0 per cent - 35 seats
Alliance for the Future of Austria (BZO) - 11.0 per cent - 21 seats
The Greens - The Green Alternative (GRUNE) - 9.8 per cent - 19 seats
